Funeral Weekend

My Grandpa Ellis Hughes Oram passed away last Sunday. I got to spend Saturday night in the hospital with him and my grandma before he passed away. He would wake up here and there and we found ways to make him comfortable. Cody, my brother even got a chuckle out of him. Anyone that was at his funeral would tell you that it was full of tears and laughter. He was a spirited man that really connected with people. He left a wonderful legacy to follow.

There were other great things about my weekend in Utah / Idaho. I got to sit on the kitchen floor at Nalani's house and play patty cakes with my 2 nephews. I got to spend time with my siblings on our car rides to and from Idaho. I got to admire my dad and his siblings for handling their dad's death with respect and love.

Thank you Grandpa for the many rounds of Old Maid, verses of "Bronco Horse" & "County Wounty", saddling up the horses, giving nicknames to all my college roommates and anyone that I brought to the house, life lessons and happy memories!

P.S. Nice plaid jacket in the family photo Uncle Kent. So Styl'n!

Maile,

Sorry for the loss. You were blessed to have Grandparents live so long. I wish mine would have. It's nice to see you had a close relationship and great memories of you grandpa--those are priceless.

We were SO blessed. I love the picture of Grandpa playing cards. Once, when I had a surgery, Grandma and Grandpa thought they had to "tend" me. Every day he would come and get me--the ride home was harrowing--and they'd let me stay and play all day. Once, some people came over to play cards, and after a few minutes, an agruement had begun. It lasted just a few minutes, then grandpa said "This is why the brethren tell us not to play. Face cards are of the devil." I loved it.

How we all loved this great man! He was the grandpa every child longs for. Carl said it was the best funeral he has ever attended! Love you all...
